African Hills Safari Lodge is situated on the Plumari Private Game Reserve in the Magaliesberg, within easy access of Johannesburg or Pretoria, offering guests a memorable Big Five wildlife experience within a malaria-free environment.

Plumari Private Game Reserve on which the African Hills Safari Lodge is located is the closest Big 5 game reserve to Johannesburg.
Our game viewing drives are available for morning and afternoon trips, as this is when the animals are most active.
You will be accompanied by a skilled ranger and guests can expect to encounter a diverse range of animals and bird species.
There are more than 20 species of larger animals, as well as several types of antelope and plains game, not to mention smaller species like antbears, hyena, porcupine and honey badgers.
These drives make for spectacular viewing.
Get close and personal with our resident elephants, Damara and Nzewe.
Our experience is a unique opportunity and starts with an educational talk followed by a “touch and feed” experience. It gives you the chance to learn about African elephants, both wild and habituated as you interact and feed these gentle giants.
