About Us
Monkeyland in Plettenberg Bay is the world’s first free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary, and Monkeyland-KZN, which opened to the public in April 2019 is this much-loved primate sanctuary’s new sister sanctuary in the Dolphin Coast region of KwaZulu-Natal.
Your tour starts with a short drive on a safari vehicle from the reception site to our 23-hectare hidden forest. From there, you will be taken on a guided walking tour during which your guide will help you look for the multiple species of free-roaming primates including capuchin monkeys, ringtail and black-and-white ruffed lemurs, buff-cheeked gibbons, squirrel monkeys, black howler monkeys and spider monkeys in their forest home. You will also experience countless other natural wonders whilst on your walking tour in our stunning forest. There’s a large secure parking lot and gift shop at the reception area. Please note that our pizza restaurant and outdoor children's play area are currently closed. We do have drinks and snacks for sale in the gift shop and you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy at the reception site before or after your tour.
Monkeyland-KZN is a must-see place whether KwaZulu-Natal is your home or you are visiting on holiday. The sanctuary is currently open Thursdays to Mondays from 9am with the last tour departing at 4pm.
Monkeyland-KZN is a 100% family-friendly eco-attraction and can be visited in any weather (subject to the right clothing). We have strict COVID protocols in place to ensure your safety without limiting the fun.
