About Us
Moonlight Backpackers Lodge is the ideal break away for a day or two.
The lodge is situated in the Hartbeespoort dam area which attracts thousands of people over the weekends, who come to see and experience the large variety of things to see and do. See "To do in area" in this website.
Moonlight Backpackers Lodge is the only operational backpackers lodge in the Hartbeespoort and Brits area. We offer clean and comfortable accommodation, with en-suite bathrooms. Bedding is provided, but clients must bring own towels.
We are only 10 minutes from Hartbeespoort, 15 minutes from Brits, 30 minutes from Pretoria, 1 hour from OR Tambo International Airport, 45 minutes from Sandton, and 1 hour from Sun City and Pilanesberg National Park.
Accommodation is self-catering accommodation. We have a large communal kitchen with all the utensils, cutlery, cookware, glasses, fridges etc that you will need. We also have two braai areas - one under roof for rainy evenings, and one outside for good weather. All you must bring is your food, spices, firewood etc.. Coffee and tea are available. Remember to bring milk.
Moonlight Backpackers Lodge is a game farm. Therefore, we do not allow loud music on the property. At night you will hear jackals calling in the area, owls, sometimes a barking bushbuck, nyala or kudu, and in the breeding season the impala rams. We are fortunate enough to have amazing sunrises and sunsets
The rooms at Moonlight backpackers lodge are clean, comfortable, and private.
Our rooms are well decorated with African paintings and crafts. The beds are built in for extra comfort and support and finished with slate tiling. The showers are large in size, fully tiled, with glass doors. We very often receive great compliments for the lodge itself and especially for the accommodation, taking into consideration that we are a backpacker’s lodge offering affordable budget cheap accommodation in the Hartbeespoort dam / De Wildt / Brits area where other lodges charge much more. Bedding is included. Clients must bring own towels and toiletries.

We have a variety of wildlife, which you can see from the lodge.
